This is happening

"Francois Rabelais. He was a poet. And his last words were "I go to seek a Great Perhaps." That's why I'm going. SO I don't have to wait until I die to start seeking a Great Perhaps."- John Green, Looking for Alaska
These past months of anticipation have been filled with questions such as, "Why Italy?" "You're going to leave your family?" "How are you going to live in a country where you can't speak their language? You're not even Italian!"
To all of these questions, I answer: I go to seek a Great Perhaps. Why should I remain in the four-square-mile town I have lived in for fifteen years and attend a school of less than six-hundred students total as I have for 4 years already when I have such an amazing opportunity!? Wherever this adventure takes me, I know I won't have to sit back and think "What if?" I will have gone. I will create my own home in a foreign country and aspire to make the best of it. There is a sense of adventure driving me forward, putting me on that plane, and making sure I take advantage of everything at my disposal.
The reality hasn't quite set in that It's going to be nine long months or that I have to manage being a Junior in high school while learning so many new things. It's getting there though, and I could not be more pumped.
My stuff is all packed (biggest workout of my life), dictionary/phrase book in hand, and I'm full of eagerness. Get ready Italy, here I come!
