IL MIGLIORE COMPLEANNO IN TUTTA LA MIA VITA

I am honestly the happiest girl in the world at the moment. Today was incredible. I had the lucky Sweet 16 ora- everywhere I went people were happy, and I think everything was perfect.

I would like to acknowledge all the love I received today in the most amazing video ever ever ever!!! It was funny- I received the email early on today (about 10:15 here), but the internet was down at school! I finally viewed it later in the afternoon and was moved to tears. I didn't know whether to love you all for sending it and putting time into wishing me a happy birthday or hate you for making me miss you all so much! However, I reached a conclusion with the wise words of my Resident Director, "I think that's what love is; can't live with 'em and can't live without 'em." Allora, thank you all SO MUCH and please know how much it meant to me.

When I got home from school today, I was not expecting anything more. As a matter of fact, I had no clue my birthday could get any better. HOWEVER, when I walked into the kitchen, to my surprise, NONNA WAS COOKING! Yes, that's correct, my birthday dinner was prepared fresh by the most incredible Nonna!! At the call "A cena!", my entire family greeted me singing "tanti auguri a te!" and again began the water works. We dined on lasagna di quattro formaggi, carne, pepperoni, e melanzane. It was molto molto buona. Oh and SURPRISE- guess who made homemade tiramisù!?!?!? Safe to say I ate at least 2/3 of the whole thing.

One final surprise awaited me after my stomach was pieno, and it literally was so over my head I didn't know how to react. In other words, my host sister came up from behind me and dangled a bag above my head for about 15 seconds before she threw it into my hands. My host family gave me a gift certificate to spend a day at a local spa- Terme dei Papi!! Just to clarify- it's more like the most beautiful natural hot springs even than a spa. So, come wintertime, I have something very exciting to look forward too!
