Out with a Bang
I have officially completed my cooking class! Even though it's over, I feel very accomplished and excited to use my new skills later on.
This week, we made 3 kick-butt recipes to end on a super high note.
Pizza (Fresh Pizza!)
Panzerotti (Fried Mini Calzones)
Parmigiano Melanzane (Eggplant Parmesan)
Wow, what a full stomach. Of course the star of the show had to be the homemade pizza! Homemaking the pasta made a huge difference in the wonderful taste. Also, we used yeast like I'd never seen before. Somehow, even if I was the one who mixed the ingredients together, our dough rose! More importantly, I learned why Italian pizza comes out tasting so much better. Only the sauce goes on the pizza when it heads into the oven! It needs time to cook on its own. after that is finished, toppings and the cheese are sprinkled on top. A true pizzeria will make pizza this way.
I got a very nice gift from Barbara and Grazia, our teachers, of a biscotti cutter! They sent us off with warm wishes for Natale (can you believe they're talking Christmas already?) and hopes to see us soon. Maybe I'll take a new course this year! I don't know what to do with my Wednesdays!
